• Every Time We Feel the Spirit

The Mission offers spiritual development opportunities for clients through bible studies, church services, mentoring, outreach, prayer meetings, retreats, and one on one meetings with the Mission chaplain, Lynn Samaan.

Lynn is the Director of Spiritual Formation and Outreach at the Boston Rescue Mission. Lynn has traveled and ministered in twenty different countries with on-going projects in India where she leads teams every year. Lynn has her B.S. R.N. from Columbia School of Nursing, a Master of Theology degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and her Master of Missiology degree from Fuller School of World Mission. She is a certified Spiritual Director.

    Bible Study
Lynn Samaan, other staff, and church leaders conduct regularly scheduled Bible studies at the Mission. These studies are designed to meet the needs of guests of the Mission as well as others who work in the downtown Boston area. If you're interested in leading a bible study at the Mission, please contact us to arrange a meeting.

    Church Services
The Friday Evening Service starts at 7:30pm, and is open to anyone who would like to join in worship. The services are hosted by Lynn Samaan or a featured guest speaker. The service is designed to provide an environment that is conducive to worship, scriptural exhortation and personal ministry. This service is open to all individuals whether currently in our programs, program graduates, interested churches, ministry groups or individuals. We encourage those interested to lead worship, prayer, or provide refreshments for the fellowship time.

    Mentoring
Our vision is to provide a healing community where lives are transformed through Christ's love, grace and compassion. To help create such a community, we provide our clients with the opportunity to have a spiritual mentor. A volunteer is paired with a client to meet on a regular basis to encourage spiritual growth and a deeper relationship with Christ. A brief training will be provided to interested individuals.

    Spiritual Retreats
Program members regularly attend spiritual retreats which prove to be a powerful time for clients. The retreats often take place up in Rockport, Ma where clients have time for quiet contemplation, meditation, and worship. These activities build a sense of community between the participants and allows everyone to share their experiences and offer support to one another If a retreat sounds like an opportunity for personal growth the Mission is always looking for volunteer drivers and ministers to assist during a retreat.

    Outreach
The goal of the Outreach Services at the Boston Rescue Mission is to establish relationships with the less fortunate of Boston who are living on the streets. We strive to forge these relationships in a manner that reflects the love, grace and compassion of Jesus Christ. Most people living on the streets are familiar with the pain of people diverting their eyes as they walk by, rather than stopping to help or even acknowledge them. The Outreach Team actively seeks to speak with each person and offer them an example of the acceptance they can expect at the Boston Rescue Mission. The Outreach Team lets them know that this is a place they can go and start to overcome their struggles - a place of hope, comfort and care.
